Who is this for? 

Discover the joy of working with horses in the breathtaking scenery of mid-eastern South Dakota. This retreat is designed for up to two adults who are eager to connect with these magnificent animals and gain hands-on experience.

Bring your own horse or use one of ours—it’s completely up to you! During your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to work with both your horse and ours if you choose to bring yours along. Don’t forget to pack your saddle, whether or not your horse accompanies you, to ensure a seamless experience.

What should I expect?

Prepare for an engaging and rewarding two-day horse training retreat! From groundwork techniques to trail riding, you’ll have the opportunity to observe a variety of training methods and then put what you’ve learned into practice with your own horse—or ours.

Under the expert guidance of Enck’s Training, you’ll spend approximately seven hours each day working hands-on with horses, gaining invaluable skills and deepening your connection with these remarkable animals.

This experience isn’t just about work—it’s filled with laughter, learning, and memorable moments. Bring a friend along to share the adventure and create lasting memories together!

 

Are lodging and food provided?

Lodging and meals are not covered by Enck’s Training, but you have great options to tailor your retreat experience. You’re welcome to stay at the training facility in your trailer for an additional fee, or explore comfortable accommodations and local eateries in nearby towns. Visit our accommodations page to find recommended lodging and dining choices that reflect the warmth and charm of South Dakota’s heartland.

For guests bringing their horse(s), Enck’s Training will provide feed and boarding for the duration of your retreat, ensuring their care is covered.

When can I sign up?

Sign up on our Book Online page at least one week before the start of your retreat.  Go to the month you are interested in to see what dates are available. Since we like to get an early start for the day, you may arrive the night before your retreat begins. Expect to leave the afternoon of your second day.

 

Where will this take place?

This program takes place at Enck’s Training facility, located at 22143 430th Ave, Carthage, South Dakota.

How much will it cost?

The retreat is priced at $450 per adult, for up to two adults, excluding hotel accommodations. When booking online, please ensure that both individuals in your group are registered. A deposit of $150 per person is required at the time of booking. Kindly note that you should only pay the deposit online, as the remaining balance will be collected in person during your retreat.

We accept a range of payment methods, including PayPal, major credit/debit cards, checks, and cash.

Cancellation policy

Please be advised that deposits for the retreat are non-refundable. If you choose to cancel your booking, your deposit will not be returned.
