Who is this for? 

Escape to the serene landscapes of mid-eastern South Dakota for an enriching six day retreat designed for up to two adults eager to deepen their connection with horses. Whether you're a seasoned rider or just beginning your journey, this immersive experience offers hands-on learning in a breathtaking setting.

Choose to bring your own horse or work with one of ours—the decision is yours! You’ll have the unique opportunity to engage with both your horse and ours, applying newly learned skills in a supportive environment. Be sure to pack your saddle, even if you decide to leave your horse at home, to make the most of your time here.

Surrounded by nature and guided by expert instruction, this retreat blends practical horsemanship with personal growth, offering an unforgettable experience filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories.

What should I expect?

From groundwork to trail riding, you will be observing various training methods as well as gain hands-on experience in applying what you learn to your own horse. You will work with Enck’s Training in training horses for about 7 hours per day. You will get to enjoy the beauty of mid western South Dakota from the back of a horse through trail rides at various locations, with a few “extra” horse-related activities. It will be full of work, laughter, and learning about horses. Bring a friend and enjoy the experiences together.

Are lodging and food provided?

Lodging and meals are not covered by Enck’s Training, but you have great options to tailor your retreat experience. Visit our accommodations page to find recommended lodging and dining choices that reflect the warmth and charm of South Dakota’s heartland.

For guests bringing their horse(s), Enck’s Training will provide feed and boarding for the duration of your retreat, ensuring their care is covered.

​When can I sign up?

Sign up on our Book Online page at least one week before the start of your retreat. The dates listed are our only availability for 1-week retreat. Expect to arrive by Sunday after 3pm and leave Saturday.

 

Where will this program take place?

Enck’s Training is located at 22143 430th Ave, Carthage, South Dakota.

How much will it cost?

The cost of the program is $1,500 per rider, with a maximum of two adults per session.

When booking online, you will need to pay a deposit of $300 per person. Please make sure to register both riders and pay only the deposit amount at the time of booking. The remaining balance will be collected in person upon arrival.

We accept PayPal, major credit/debit cards, checks, and cash for payment.

Cancellation policy

Please note that the $300 deposit is non-refundable. If you choose to cancel your session, this payment will not be returned.
